The School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T) is the premier tactical and special operations training institution of the Bangladesh Army. Based in Jalalabad Cantonment, Sylhet, the institute was originally founded on March 19, 1973, to elevate the combat capabilities of the newly independent nation. Affiliated with the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), SI&T provides advanced instruction in weapons handling, tactical maneuvers, and leadership for both officers and soldiers. In 1982, the institution expanded dramatically by absorbing the Special Warfare School as its specialized Special Warfare Wing. Today, it hosts world-class training programs—including elite commando, sniper, and counter-terrorism courses—which attract elite personnel from the Bangladesh military and allied global defense
